Hello and thank you for visiting my JuJutsu pages. I was born in Sydney Australia, but I have been living in Japan for the last 21 years. As my father Eric Waters was an instructor of Sekiguchi Ryu JuJutsu, I was introduced to JuJutsu at a very young age of around three years old.I officially started training at 6 years old and obtained my senior black belt at 18 years old. I was the youngest black belt for JuJutsu in Australia at that time. My father was more severe for me than for any other students. I had to be much better than anyone before he would let me go for a grade. I guess he didn`t want people to say that I just got my grades because my father was the instructor. Anyway it was good for me although I didn't think so at the time. The style of JuJutsu that my father taught and is still teaching at 80 years old is traditional Sekiguchi Ryu JuJutsu. This is the style that I received my black belt for. I am now a 6th Dan Black Belt. At around 19 years old I had a few Chinese friends, 2 of which were high grades in different forms of Kung Fu. We used to train together once a week exchanging techniques. It was at that time that my JuJutsu started to change. I adapted some punches and kicks. Then changed them to suit my style. I have been doing JuJutsu for 48 years now. When in Australia I taught at a few clubs in Sydney and the north coast of NSW. I now teach Guren Ryu JuJutsu here in Aomori northern Japan. My 2 sons are following the Waters family tradition and are 3rd generation JuJutsu exponents. JuJutsu is and always has been a major part of my life and will continue to be in the future.
